WHO Collaborating Centre Activities

The Research Institute for Hospice/Palliative Care commenced its international activities after being designated as a Collaborating Centre by World Health Organization (WHO) in 1995. In 2006, it was redesignated as an institute for training in hospice and palliative care by WHO and, in 2017, began offering international program for training multidisciplinary professionals working in hospice and palliative fields in underdeveloped and developing countries.

In order to assist the establishment of hospice and palliative care in underdeveloped and developing countries, the institute has spearheaded the efforts to foster healthcare professionals in low- and middle-income countries, whilst also working with health and medical institutions in Europe, Asia, and North America in search of future directions for hospice and palliative care. The institute is currently participating in collaborative research projects and providing education programs to contribute to the development of holistic hospice and palliative care and the dignity of people at the end of life.
